The Berlin production company Context TV (“Return to the Bismarck“) has teamed up with the Norwegian filmproduction company Motlys and renowned director Rudolph Herzog (www.rudolph-herzog.de) to produce a blue chip documentary on the search for Roald Amundsen’s sea plane, the Latham 47.

The film will not only provide exclusive coverage of the expedition, but will also feature the tragic tale leading up to the famous explorer’s disappearance, including his fierce rivalry with the Italian airship engineer Umberto Nobile. The production will involve shoots in Italy, France, Germany, Canada, Norway and the Barents Sea.

Principal photography is set to wrap in September 2009.
